COLLECTION OF AN ARLESIAN
The Provençal Costume and Jewelry Museum
For the first time ever, the Provence museum of costumes and jewellery is hosting a collection, exclusively dedicated to Arlesian traditional costume. Never before exhibited outside of the Arles region, this outstanding collection belonging to Odile and Magali Pascal, traces the history of the Arlesian costume from the 18th to the early 20th century. From 1975 to date, Magali Pascal has built up what is now considered to be the most complete collection of Arlesian costumes. Together with her daughter Odile – Queen of Arles from 1978 to 1981 – who was also her model, she has written three reference works. The Grasse museum of costume pays tribute to this magnificent collection and to the work done by the CCHMode Association towards conserving Arlesian costumes and textiles.
