Grasse : Provencal costume and jewelry museum
We opened our charming Provençal costume and jewelry museum in 1997, in the former residence of the Marchioness of Cabris, sister to Mirabeau. The rooms of this noble, time-weathered house that was a Tribunal during the Revolution now hold a private collection of 18th- and 19th-century Provençal costume and jewelry patiently gathered together by Hélène Costa.
Simple dresses, underskirts of piqué Indiana cloth and delicate lacework recount the lives of Provençal women – peasants, craft workers, farmers' wives – in our region. This little museum holds the memory of a simple, refined, noble way of life in the joyful ambience of our fragrant, sun-baked little town.
It's in this same spirit that we've created a range of household articles – boutis, tablecloths, glassware, pottery and jewelry – that you can discover in our Fragonard Maison shops.
Our museum is open every day, Sundays and public holidays included, from 10 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 6 pm (closed Sundays from November to January).
